Letter to Our Readers Who Recently Expressed Concern About Escalating U.S. Aggression in Venezuela

January 29, 2019

Thank you for the recent correspondences regarding the latest phase of the U.S. government's counter-revolutionary destabilization campaign in Venezuela and the struggle of the American people in opposition to it!

Your recognition of the value of our recent and archived materials on Venezuela and Latin America is greatly appreciated.

It is just such anti-imperialist politics which is required to assist the anti-war movement of the American people by helping to provide it needed consciousness and direction.

Not only do the articles expose the monopoly capitalist class and the imperialist system as the cause of war, but they also point the way for reliance on the people and speak to the heart of the matter, which is inspiring them with their decisive role in the struggle.

One of the great democratic traditions of the American working class is that it has always sympathized with and supported the liberation struggles of people everywhere.

As to Venezuela's progress on that path, Washington's latest recognition of a parallel "government" as well as its ongoing funding of election interference and all-sided wrecking activity paid for through the National Endowment for Democracy and other imperialist institutions, is a neo-colonial policy aimed at plunder.

This neo-colonial policy is an obstructive burden to Venezuela and is also prospectively so to every country on the path of independent development interested in asserting its right to self-determination.

U.S. monopoly capitalism, at the head of the capitalist-imperialist system, has placed itself in opposition to the fundamental interests of the people and is opposed by the overwhelming majority of humanity. Countless examples show that the people can win when they take the initiative into their own hands by uniting themselves and standing up for their interests.

Let us continue to work together to expose the lies of the capitalist politicians and media and to tell the truth about the program of our "own" ruling class.

Let us demand nothing less than a genuinely democratic foreign policy which ends U.S. interference and aggression and withdraws all U.S. troops stationed abroad.
