Iraqi Military Acquires New Ability to Fly Combat Sorties

May 20, 2019

According to the United States Central Command, a group of coalition aircraft flying a mission at the border of Syria and Iraq included Iraqi Air Forces for the first time. The event occurred on April 16 and was reported in a press release.

It attested that, “This marks the first time Iraqi Air Force fighter aircraft have flown a combat sortie alongside Coalition aircraft.

“The sortie represents a milestone as the Global Coalition Against Daesh continues to work by, with and through the Iraqi Security Forces to build Iraqi airpower through Security Forces Advisement.”

Washington's plans for the future of the so-called “war on terrorism” in Iraq still include perpetual military tutelage under the oversight of the U.S. State Department and Department of Defense.

The U.S. military also recently mobilized new armaments to the vicinity, including an Army Patriot anti-ballistic missile battery, four B-52 bombers and the Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group.

The U.S. Congress is united in its support for the war in Iraq, with the Democratic Party leadership frequently accusing the Trump administration of “not doing enough.”

Coinciding with new U.S. warship deployments in the Persian Gulf, the justifications for the war have recently shifted from claims that Iraqi stability is threatened by tens of thousands of ISIS and local insurgents, to claims that the sovereignty of Iraq might be violated by Iran at some point in the future.

In the meantime, the U.S. keeps promising that it will eventually “restore sovereignty” to Iraq once it is made safe for investors.

The latest attempts to dodge responsibility for the chaos in Iraq caused by the U.S. invasion and occupation show, once again, that the U.S. imperialists are panic-stricken, desperate, and without any hope.
